Final Dvd created is not as good as the 8cm Dvd

Sony DVD Camcorder DCR-DVD405
Discs Used: Sony DVD+RW
Software: Sony Vegas Studio Platinum 8d / Sony DVD Architect 4.5d
Setting: HQ Recording (20Mins each disc)

Hello People,

upon playing the 8cm Dvd+Rw disc on my dvd player - the picture is amazing!

But after I import it from the disc to the computer using vegas, then editing and rendering at MPEG2 and then burning it to disc using DVD Architect, the picture is nowhere near as good as the original, even the bit rate goes low, also a lot of judder.

All I want to do from the original 8cm DVD +RW, is to import it to the laptop, edit, add a few titles and transitions then burn it to a 12cm DVD disc without having to loose any picture quality from the original. The finished disc will only be played on a DVD player.

Please can someone help me, so far I've killed 12 disc but picture quality is not the same as the original.

Hi not a solution regards Vegas but have you tried just ripping the disc to the hardrive and making a copy if so is the quality identical .Use an RW to save discs for If not I'd then use Img burn (free) for the trial seeif that is better.Only to prove /disprove your software as being the prob

Re: Final Dvd created is not as good as the 8cm Dvd

Mpeg can sometimes lose a bit of quality during editing.. especially if extensive rerendering has occured
but
For the final output you should actually specify
Which encoding bitrate,
Whether Constant or Variable
If variable specify highest and lowest bitrates
How many Passes ( 2 pass is best)
And then see what quality you get
This advice is not specific to Vegas
