Transfer VHS to Camcorder

I have some old VHS videos that I want to transfer to Camcorder and then onto DVD.

I have managed to connect the VHS to the camcorder via a combination of cables and can now record onto the camcorder, however the picture is B&W rather than colour.

Any idea how I can change to colour?

Cheers
Kwack

Re: Transfer VHS to Camcorder

TRF= transfer.. Text speak may not help your thread..

If you need to get to DVD why do you need to go via a camcorder?
Which type of camcorder is it?
Unless you want to edit as Dv AVI and have a camcorder with pass through you shouldn't need the camcorder
As for B and W, it is likely to be a setting on the camcorder that needs changing.. unless your connections are responsible
It is very hard to say exactly why without seeing the actual setup
By far the easiest way is to connect VHS directly to a settop DVD recorder

Re: Transfer VHS to Camcorder

Thansk for the reply. Unfortuenately I do not have a set-top dvd recorded so I am unable to record direct from the VHS.

I have DV in on my camcorder which is a Canon MV450i

I have connected the camcorder to teh VHS as follows;

RWY cable + S-video to the VHS via a in/out Scart adaptor.

I then press play opn VHS and Rec Pause (Line in) on the Camcprder and then when tready press pause and it starts recording showing the tape through the camcorder screen which is in B&W

I will check the camcorders settings and see if anything comes up.

Any other ideas

Cheers

Re: Transfer VHS to Camcorder

Thanks very much . I tried just using one of these and it worked in colour. The manual is very misleading and suggest that both and used.
