The HDV files ( mpeg2 1080, 50i) called " m2t" (
Mpeg
2 transport stream) are simply files you can manipulate of a PC whichever way you like
If you want to get then onto DVD disc in one of several ways
You can make DVD
data with any burning software..willplay only on PC or PS3 used as a media player
or
SD DVD video either by downconverting in software or in-camera " on the fly" during the capture to PC process ( by firewire)
You would have enabled i-link-DV in the menu
You can however use them to make an AVCHD disc playable on the PS3 ( as a BD player) or certain BD players capable of playing AVCHD disc
Certainly Burn a BD video if you have a BD Burner and media using software to arthor these but this isnt a commmon pursuit although ver feasible as the BD burners arent that plentiful, media is still a tad costly and playback devicec are not quite in everbodys house.. yet ( if at all that will ever happen)
BD supports mpeg2
Some filk simply use high end laptops or PC as HTPC and watch high def off HDD or stream it
There are also media players like Popcornhour :just dependa hapw far you want to go.
There isnt anything wrong with popping the tape into the camcorder and playing off it to TV
One advantage of tape based Hi def is that you can edit it and output back to tape for playback via the camcorder ( All HDv camcorders have DV-in)
