Can anybody tell me which format to go for?
I have hi 8 tapes so need to be able to view them but do I go for analogue or one of Sony's digital 8 camcorders, What are the pro's and con's of digital?

Go for D8 DV quality and plays back Hi8

Hi,

Analogue Camcorders will be cheaper, but there are not many on the market now, as digital has taken over.

Like MartinImber says, get digital 8 if you want to play back your old HI8 tapes.
Watch one for which digital 8 camcorder you buy, as some of the cheaper ones dont support HI8 play back. So ask before you buy.

Digital pros:
smaller/lighter cams, better quality, more features, easier to get video onto PC for editing,more choice of cams

Digital cons:
more expensive, tapes more expensive, lower battery life, most not good in low light

Thanks for the advice, I have my eye on SONY'S dcrtrv250 does anybody have any first hand experience of this model or model's around the £350 price mark?
