shoe size

I've not done all my homework as yet I admit .. but some recent AVC camcorders have a mini shoe - I think the HF Canons? If so, is there an adaptor that would allow a full size mic to be attached to the shoe?

Oh.. the recent Panasonics SD100 & HS100 - full size shoe?

Was just about to get an HF10 but a last minute worry.

Re: shoe size

It's the early hours of the morning, there tends not to be many people about just now - I'd be sleeping if I hadn't been playing FIFA 09, lol.

The Canons have a custom shoe. There is a cold shoe adapter like this one

You can get an external mic. that fits the HF10/100/11 like this as well

Don't know if that's what you're looking for but it's what I found with a quick search as I know very little about this area.

Re: shoe size

Looks like a standard-sized cold shoe to me (image attached). That would be normal for Panasonic.

Andrew.

Re: shoe size

thanks guys. Panasonic looks good then .. have already got a couple of decent shotgun mics. Shame I like the Canon but needing the adaptor is a pain - US$55 plus US$40 for shipping - Bah

Re: shoe size

Is the fact the Canon's now have a mini shoe putting you off getting one?

For me personally, i dont know if that alone would swing me toward the panasonics, escpecially with most reviews leaning towards the canon's being better overall?

Re: shoe size

The other option would be to mount the mic on a flash bracket. Not quite as tidy as sitting it atop the camera, though.

It is. If I had the patience I'd get both cameras & sell one back on ebay. Cant be bothered. Surely the Pan is still very good? I did post a question on the Panny thread after some hands on opinion... nothing as yet though. Really do like the idea of the manual ring which it has.

Re: shoe size

Yeah, in terms of handling, it is probably better than the canon's - they should have copied Panasonic and Sony when it came to that manual focus ring - it looks like a great idea.

For sure:
Hama Folding Flash Bracket - Product Detail
General Brand | Right Angle Bracket with 2 Flash Shoes | B&H

That kind of thing. Not the world's most elegant hardware, but they get the job done.

Andrew.
