tele macro problem sony handycam

Hi i currently own a sony dcr-sr36e handy cam. I am having trouble with the tele macro option. When i use it it zooms out thus been not been able to see any thing . Ive looked at my manual which didnt help. could someone please help me?

When you say "zooms out" do you mean "increases the magnification"?

All telemacro functions that I know of only work at the high-magnification end of the zoom, so this sounds normal to me.

When you say you've "not been able to see anything" do you mean the picture is out of focus?

Once you're at extreme zoom with telemacro selected, you'll need to move back from your subject to find focus - probably somewhere between 30 and 50 centimetres.

Are you trying to use the zoom with telemacro turned on? Normally, you can't use the zoom with telemacro. Telemacro works at the big end of the zoom only. When you turn telemacro on, it should automatically zoom the lens to the high magnification setting. Using the zoom will deselect telemacro and return you to normal shooting.

i think ive manged to use the tele macro its just my focus takes ages to sort its self out!

The AF system can be a little less than snappy when you're pointing the lens at something only 50cm away at max zoom!

So problem solved then?

Yeah ive taken one pic didnt turn out to bad. I think its trial and error lol
