Thanks: Gave 14, Got 2 | Which class SDHC card for my Panasonic SD9??
I have the Panasonic SD9 camcorder but I was wondering what the minimum class SDHC card is I can use with it?
I've seen an 8gb class 4 card for £12 but all I've used in the past have been Transcend 8gb cards and they have all been class 6 I think?!?
Any idea if class 4 is OK for my needs??
Thanks....

Did you get a manual with your SD9?
Class 4 is the minimum.
Andrew.

Some sites/info does not make clear is if a Class 1 is better or worse than say a Class 6 card.
My understanding however is in the case of SD cards is the higher the class number the faster the card is.

I'd go for a class 6 - the difference in cost is not that great - and the download speeds should be quicker!

The "Class" speed classification refers only to the write speed.
Andrew. EDIT: Reading further (see the link to Wikipedia below), I now understand that read speeds are usually higher than write speeds, meaning that a Class 6 card will in all likelihood offer you faster downloads from card to PC than a Class 4 card. Still, if you want to be sure you're getting more speed for your money, it still pays to check the specs.

Still, each to their own.

HummerUK | I think the Class refers to the minimum speed of the card, with the higher number=faster. However I believe that the actual speed of a fast Class 4 could be quicker than a slow Class 6.
Either way, I got 2 Class 6 cards for my Canon cam. and they're fine. |

Having reiterated this, I now withdraw. | Actually, the OP did not state his requirements - in fact standard SD cards can be used if you just want to capture stills and/or video which cannot be guaranteed to work reliably.
For guaranteed compatibility at highest framerates/bitrates I would suggest that the OP uses class 6 cards, as a previous poster mentioned the price difference is insignificant.
Obviously, the OP couldn't be bothered to consult the manual (in page 24 of my manual BTW) or he wouldn't be posting here?
