Sony TRV22 vs TRV33

Hi guys, has anybody got the chance to directly compare the Sony TRV22 with the TRV33. I have read reviews which indicate that the TRV22 is better in low light conditions. It's cheaper and has longer battery life. I'm wondering whether the TRV33 would have better good light video quality, particuarly with widescreen. Many thanks.

I have a TRV33 and the widescreen mode is excellent. the chip is designed for widescreen and to do 4x3 it actually pillarboxes the chip.

Memory stick stills are not bad, since it is a megapixel chip.

But the W/S support does it for me TRV33 and up are the ones to get!

22 letter boxes the chip for 16x9

Think it really depends on what you want the camera to do. In my case I wanted a point and shoot to film our new baby, so is primarily going to be used indoors - I went for the 22.

If widescreen is a major factor for you then I would go for the 33

If you look at www.camcorderinfo.com there is a forum specifically for the 19/22/33 models. Most people currently favour the 22 but there probably isn't a lot between them.

Either way as far as I'm concerned a DV camera is for taking moving pictures, if you want to take stills then buy a stills camera.

Thanks guys.

Martin, I wondered whether you edit your footage. If so how do you view your edited footage, via tape or VCD/DVD and does it remain in widecreen?

Jim, yes I too have seen from camcorder info that the TRV22 is favoured for low light, wide angle and battery life. How do you find the video on your 22 in outside conditions in good light?

Many thanks.

Currently just basic editing using ULead DVD movie factory

but this loses W/S switching

But I get it back using TMPGENC and using 16x9 mode

This stays flagged when I burn using DVDMF

QUality is excellent

Scooby, the TRV 22 (IMO) gives a fantastic picture in outside light. This is my first camcorder so have nothing to compare it too but I certainly can't find any fault with the picture.
