Sony HDR-SR10E copy AVCHD to Hard Drive of PS3

Folks

Plugging my SR10E into the PS3 via USB works to a point.

I can play HD content via the PS3 to my HDTV, but instead of the PS3 menu seeing the separate AVCHD files on the Hard Drive of the Camcorder, it sees them all as one contiguous file. E.G. I have over 20 "clips" recorded of my holiday, but it sees them as just one.

Which means - when I copy to the HDDof the PS3, it is just one massive file, I can't choose the individual clips, having to start at the beginning of the very first shot each time.

What am I doing wrong?

The Picture Motion Browser I use on my PC does show the clips correctly, and let's me copy them and view them individually.

Regards
Skybird

Is it the .m2ts files you have copied?
I've done the same yesterday and all clips turn up as seperate files. So no problem on my side.
I've got a Sony SR11 and a PS3.

Hi, I can't see .m2ts files to copy? It just shows a clip icon with AVCHD next to it from the main menu.

Re: Sony HDR-SR10E copy AVCHD to Hard Drive of PS3

Im very sorry, I didn't read your post correctly.

What I did was: connect the camcorder to the pc with usb.
Import all files with the picture motion browser.
Take a thumb-drive (or a CF card or whatever) copy all the .m2ts files onto that, walk to your ps3 plug in the thumb-drive.
In the PS3 menu you will have to choose 'view-all' for some reason to see the files on your thumb-drive (make sure your under 'movies').
Then your set, the movies show up on your ps3 as separate movie files and the content is shown in Harry Potter Newspaper style.
You can just copy all the files to the hard disk of the ps3 if you want.

Re: Sony HDR-SR10E copy AVCHD to Hard Drive of PS3

I just copied mine direct from my SR12s hdd to the PS3s hdd via the USB connection and they all came up individually.

Silly question, but did you tell the SR10 to connect via usb?

Re: Sony HDR-SR10E copy AVCHD to Hard Drive of PS3

Hi Guys,

I am thinking of getting one of these camcorders, and would appreciate it if you could spare 5mins and answer some q's i have?

Are the files easy to transfer onto your PC from the Camcorder?

How big would a 10min HD clip be?

What format are the movie clips in?

Could I transfer the movie clips onto my PC for storage and then watch them in Windows Media Player or Media Centre?

Thanks in advance

1) Yes...copy /paste
2) 1Gb
3) AVCHD (h264)
4) Yes with installed codec (enCOde/DECode) and a resonable fast computer.

Go for it !

Re: Sony HDR-SR10E copy AVCHD to Hard Drive of PS3

sounds good. So when the camcorder is connected to PC via USB, it just appears as another drive on the PC? Then just drag and drop on to pc hard disk? Or do you have to use the supplied sony s/w?
