There are several; Do a search on here if you can it crops up very often

What would be more helpful is: which OS do you use?
What is the Specification of your PC
Which AVCHD camcorder you have

Software players are
Nero Vision 4 ( part of Nero 8)
Core AVC pro adds AVCHD playback to WMP
WinDVD 9 Plus
Power DVD Ultra
FF player can but I think it relies on you having a codec on your system
and
There is a school of thought which will suggest you use the K lite codecs; (I would avoid)
There was a small player "Oxygen" which is now no longer available as it was thought its developers infringed 3rd party patented rights
You may be able to find it though

Re: What software please for working with AVCHD

What spec PC do you actually need? It's just I am in the market for a new laptop and the Pinnacle Studio Plus says you need a min of a 2.4ghz duo core - the problem I have is that most laptops are only 2.0 or 2.1ghz -

Can you still edit AVCHS files without spending a lot of extra money on a really powerful laptop?

Thanks

You should be but software minimum specs are also impt, otherwise software like Sony Vegas MS is rather more happy with a liitle less than many of its competitors
