Total newbie with no manuals

Hi all, im an owner of a sony DCR-HC37E and have just got around to using it properly but the box it came in has all the manuals etc for another handycam and none of its relevant. Managed to download the manual but is there a 'hasnt got a clue' guide for someone like about recording from the handycam onto the PC, and burning onto DVD. Any help and software suggestions would be very appreciated.
