What to buy ? Sony Camcorder ~£500

Hi All

A friend has asked me to recommend a Sony camcorder around £500

I had a look around and there seems to be a lot of models in that area

He'd like it for holidays, kiddie snaps and the occassional track day

Does his budget stretch to HD ?

What would you recommend ?

Any help is greatly appreciated

regards

Raj

If it has to be Sony then you're looking at the SR-10 or the TG3. Both are HD camcorders that record to th same format (AVCHD). The TG3 is more compact ,uses memory sticks and is supplied with a 4GB one that'll hold about half an hour using its highest setting. The SR-10 has a 40GB hard drive that should be good for about 5 hours of its' highest quality video.

Both are under £500, and you might be able to squeeze a 8GB stick in along with the the TG3 for that.
