What type of camcorder do you think I need to make same high quality recordings as nihoncar.com (Link to a sample vid: http://www.nihoncar.com/en/nc_tv.php...=review&id=486 )

I will also film cars but as this only will be a hobby project I wanted to know if there is a cheaper camcorder (sub $2500) capable of this or do I need a pro camcorder (over $3000)? Which models do you recommend?

That looks like a very high quality pro camera to me. Something like a Sony EX1 or EX3 if I had to guess (but it could be one of many makes). Something around the 10K+ USD I would imagine for that kind of quality.

JVC i think,hard to know $ value but its hard to tell quality on a pc screen but most reasonable prosumer cams would be ok.

Howeve the likes of Canon XH A1 or Sony EX1 or even the HDV kit
