I'm connecting my sony dcr-trv33e to my pc via usb, but when i capture the video through power director it doesn't recognise the camcorder as a dv device, it just recognises it as a webcam or tv source.

I can get the video onto my pc, but with no sound.

How can i get power director to recognise my camcorder? will it help if i connect it via firewire?

You need firewire with a MiniDV camcorder.
The USB is there for stills or the webcam function
This is not just with Power Director
