Angry A curse on "professional" reviewers!

Just bought a Canon FS100 on the strength of both professional reviews and user-reviews, and NOT ONE mentioned that the camera doesn't have a filter-thread at the front of the lens!!!

You would have thought that to be fundamental information, or do most consumer-level camcorders leave the lens vulnerable to dirt, dust etc.?!?

So...how the **** do I get around this? We're on holiday on Saturday, so no time to send it back and get an alternative replacement (which may have the same problem).

Re: A curse on "professional" reviewers!

To be fair, many consumer camcorders now employ a cover which opens with the camera in operation and closes when it is not
Having a threaded front suggests ( to marketing ) that you might want to use a filter for protection or creative effect or even a wide angle adaptor, not unreasonable but in the last 3 years many useful features have been replaced by cheaper to implement gimmicks
It seems that the wish list of JP now is a small pocketable camcorder, doing 1080p ( FullHD), able to take 10mp stills with mega battery life and a free 32Gb card thrown in
