As i have discussed here before i use vegas7 to convert VCD to DVD after changing file extension to mpg , for the first time i have come across a problem sound goes faster than the picture it wont match sound and picture , I selecte PAL DVD and after rendering using same PAL DVD i made a single movie DVD using DVDA4 , but when i played both on my PC and Philips DVP5980 dvd player it playes , but the problem is sound goes faster than the picture it wont synchronize, or match sound and picture, i never come across this problem before , this is the first time i am having this problem , I converted so many VCDs to DVD(thanks to Senu for helping me how to do it) Can some one explain to me why i am getting this problem and help me to sort this out please.......

Re: VCD to DVD conversion using Vegas7 Sound Problem
Hi there
Im not sure why you have this but I can think of one way to correct it
Firstly, make sure your actual VCD files are not PAL while you import into an NTSC template
If you want to export( or render out) as NTSC that is fine but not whilst on the time line
If your default template is PAL then this doesnt apply
I would import the VCD files to a DV AVI template in Vegas and preview playback. If the audio synchs well with video in preview on the timeline , then the problem has occured later on ...
If it doesnt , then you can manually synch video to audio on the timeline itself
As it hasnt happened before ... i suspect the problem is actually on the most recent VCDs you are convering from
They may have some slight synching problem which is them magnified by the conversion process

Re: VCD to DVD conversion using Vegas7 Sound Problem
It seems that something in the encoding is causing this
Are you encoding to a PAL mpeg2?
It is a common problem with VCDs though and becase it isnt due to a particular problem , various methods have been suggested to fix it, no one method is superior
You could try ouputting as separate streams, combined or see if changing the audio format makes a difference

Re: VCD to DVD conversion using Vegas7 Sound Problem
Hi Senu
I did try both video and audio streams saperate and tried using making in to a NTSC DVD , but still the same probelm Audio wont match , but if you play on the time line which is before conversion there is no problem audio matches,Can you shed some light on this and explain to me why this happens.

Re: VCD to DVD conversion using Vegas7 Sound Problem
Why NTSC?
I believe the VCDs are PAL
As asked; Do you import them as PAL , edit then output them as NTSC?
And on the time line is the audio in Synch?
If this is the case
It may be a transcoding problem
You may want to try previous VCDs , if they do this them your setting in Vegas have changed
If they dont, it is down to the current VCDs
in which case you need to convert the VCD footage to DV AVI, if you are satisfied , then convert to mpeg2
If it doesnt work
use another Conversion software: Ulead, Canopus ( I believe you have them)

I know that Vegas is said to edit mpeg ( as is) but Itis possible that when you import to timeline it turns it into an AVI for the purposes of editing
Turnng to AVI means actually rendering it out as DV AVI from timeline especially if the DV AVI you play off the timeline is in synch
