Canon FS100 for £168- be quick!

Go to Jessops.co.uk and enter 'camcorder10' in the promotion box. This brings the price down to £198. There is £30 cashback from Canon before the 31st August, making this a steal at £168.
I've just bought one and I am impressed so far. Just need a big SD card now!

Daz, according to the manual, this camcorder records up to 4gb sections at a time, rather than a continous recording. Can you stitch them all together if need be, as I'm led to believe that 4gb is the equivalent to 52 mins of footage.

52mins is a lot to record in one session.

I just bought one of the camcorders for £183 + delivery

thanks for the info, i never knew that and hopefully I will not have to use it as 52 mins is a long time unless I'm recording a performance. I should test it tomorrow and just leave it recording me at my desk for an hour.

Apart from a slight miss when you start a new recording (10 seconds max) yes you would be able to put them together on the computer via editing software.

Re: Canon FS100 for £168- be quick!

laney748 I just tested it and yes you're right. On XP setting I left it running and it stopped at 3.99GB which was 1 hour 1 minute but straight away created a new file. The time gap between this I calculated was no more than 3-6 seconds. Obviously you could stitch these together but if for instance someone is speaking during that time you will lose some of the speech and it mayappear disjointed.

So if you are recording a performance it might be best to lower the quality setting to SP thus giving you more time per file.

my post on different quality settings: http://daz4590.co.uk/wordpress/2008/...lity-settings/ hope that helps.
