which camcorder

Guys,

Apologies for this post because no doubt it's been asked already.....

I am after a HD camcorder and I have been considering the Sony HDR-SR10E (is this a good choice?) but I am open to other suggestions.

Basically, HD format - recording to HDD with easy connect to TV or convert to DVD steps.

Advice gratefully received.

TIA

MC

Re: which camcorder

what's your budget? do you want a viewfinder? is low-light capability of importance to you? Why HDD?

Budget is around the £500 mark (amazon sell the sr10e for £498.50).

Low light capability is not important and HDD because that is easier?

I know the 10e doesnt come with a viewfinder and the 11e does but that is way out of my budget and I have had a mini8 sony camcorder in the past and I very rarely used the viewfinder at all.

Thumbs up Re: which camcorder

I have a Sony HDR-TG3E, cost £500, it's small but does a great job, I chose this model as it has HD and is small meaning I am more likely to take it around with me, it also takes good stills at 4MP. I bought an extra battery and an 8GB memory stick.

Re: which camcorder

SR10 is good value for the money (as is the TG3, if one prefers a smaller, flash memory based model). The SR10 has the better Carl Zeiss Vario-Sonnar T* lens; though in practice the video from it and the TG3 is very similar.
