Hdd or Tape or sd

very new to this so be gentle as i dont really know what im talking about.

at the moment i have a sony dv camcorder that takes the 8cm blank dvds.

now when i play it on my new panny pz80b it doesnt look to bad but i would expect better.

As i am going to florida in may i would like to purchase a new camcorder, so i dont know wether to get an sd card one , a hdd one or a hd tape one.

i think a hdd might not do as i recorded over 20 dvd's last time in florida.

please help,

thanks inadvance

Re: Hdd or Tape or sd

hi i just bought a sony hdd 10e 40gb full hd from amazon for around 480 pounds i think. recording time in full hd 1080i on a 40gb is just under 5 hrs and 10hrs on hd 9mp. im pretty sure recording in sd it can hold around 15hrs of footage. its a great cam, but i went travelling around europe over the last few weeks, with no laptop, and the recording time just does not cut it if you dont have anywhere to transfer the cams hdd contents to.........but if you will have a laptop out there then

Re: Hdd or Tape or sd

I myself am off to the USA and have a SDHC HD camera.

My solution is to also take my laptop along with its 120Gb drive and dual layer DVD writer.

That way I can record as much as I want

HD seems to eat about 8Gb an hour so bear that in mind if you opt for a hard drive model.
