Help Father-In-Law with camcorder choice

Well, my Father-In-Law is after a Camcorder. He does a lot of 'Haunted Weekends' so needs one with 'Night Vision' or whatever it is called. He has a budget of around £250.

He has seen my MiniDV one and has decided that is not for him! He wants one where he can put it straight onto the PC without having to wait ages like a tape one.

Any recommendations from you lot of Camcorder Guru's would be great.

His budget is almost chiselled in stone!!

I dont know if he wants standard def hdd but having both hdv tape and hd avchd as far as i am concerned overal i think every bit as long to make a edited film with avchd as hdv.standard def hdd is probobly much faster than tape.Cmcorderinfo .com not my favorite site i admit will give a good list and test of models.

Re: Help Father-In-Law with camcorder choice

I believe the Sony's are the only cams with Night Vision (infra red) although Iam unsure if the option is available on their newer HDD/card cams which are the only ones that offer drag and drop to a PC.
You can pick up their basic tape based models that do have Night Vision which would be in your price range.
I would do a search Sony's web site for what you're looking for.
