Video Editing with Sony Vegas

I accepted the advice received in this Forum and have purchased Sony Vegas Platinum and expected a slow learning curve but I did at least expect it to do what it says in the manual but so far it doesn't.
It will not let me open more than 1 video clip at any one time when I try to open a second to tag onto the first it always closes the first clip down so how am I suppose to even begin to start editing?
The so called media pane on the lower left corner says it will contain all the media in my work but that also closes down anything already on screen as soon as I try to include other material.
Does anyone know what is going on please before I go completely bonkers and bin yet another video editing software programme, I spent over £60 on this one so I did expect a little something better.
Thanks for any advice

Hi musicator,

Have you tried working through the interactive tutorials accessed via the Help menu? That might get you started off in the right direction.

AS you describe it , it may need reinstalling ..it simply doesn't behave how you describe in normal use

Re: Video Editing with Sony Vegas

Thanks for your comments but, yes I have re-installed it ,twice!, but to no avail, if the on-line help is as useful as the early sections of the manual I don't thinnk they are going to help either but I will try them.
In the meantime if anyone else has any ideas they will all be gratefully received.
