Dave, would you mind forwarding a link to the steps you took to produce such a clean video.. I picked up a hf10 this week.. I've spent about 14 hours today, just reading on all of this. I need a push or two in the right direction concerning video sizes for the web, and all that.. I'm on a pc. Any help is appreciated.

I didnt do anything really. I shot most of it in Cinema mode, 50fps. the final bit was just in P mode with the contrast turned down in the custom FX.
joined them all in Vegas without any modifications other than just overlapping the joins and output the finished file as 1920x1080 using the Sony AVC codec set to highest output.

As they were shot under a tree i think this helped keep the contrast even, no bright sun spots etc. Also it was in the morning so again, sunlight was good and not too bright.
I do tend to shoot in Cinema mode most of the time now. I also tend to lower the exposure a bit if shooting in bright sunlight. It seems to help stop the highlights from getting blown out and also makes the colours slightly richer. You do need to keep an eye on this though as you then loose Auto exposure.

I wasnt too impressed when i first got mine and even though i dont use it much still i did find it takes a while to get used to it and to get the best out of it.

Any other questions just ask.

Re: Not something you see every day (HF10 footage)

Just wanted to correct the above post.
The output was actually 1280 x 720 and bitrate was set at 10,000,000 bps.
I think i did this as i knew i was going to upload it to Vimeo although i dont think it matters if the file is bigger as Vimeo will convert it once its uploaded.

I was really hoping you wouldn't say Vegas.. I can not get that program to not crash on me when loading files.

Do you have the latest version and what version do you have?
I had certain versions crash on me but once i updated to the latest it all settled down.

I only used Vegas because i know it better than anything else (and thats really not saying much).
You could easily do the same thing in ImageMixer that came with the camera.
