Re: Panasonic HS9 from canada

Cameras purchased in North America operate at 60Hz, unlike cameras in Europe (among many other places) which operate at 50Hz.

Do a search for "NTSC" or "60Hz" on these forums and you will find many, many, many threads discussing this very conundrum. The question is asked at least twice a week.

Andrew.

Re: Panasonic HS9 from canada

Hi,
i have had a look at the other threads.

I am going to connect the camera to a pal hdtv and edit the recordings on a pc.
the only thing i was wondering was when i burn the recordings onto dvd will it work on any dvd player and play through any tv if i convert to pal,
and also whats the best way of watching the recording in hd.
I have a ps3 so i was thinking of copying the files on to there.

Thanks

p.s does anyone know anywhere cheap i could get the camera in canada

If you convert to Standard Def, PAL DVD video, it will play on any PAL DVD player/TV. You could also convert to Standard Def, NTSC DVD Video (avoiding changing the frame rate), and it will play on most PAL DVD players/TVs.

The PS3 can play the AVCHD format, so it's a good choice. Either author an AVCHD disc (which is like a Bluray disc in structure, but on ordinary red laser discs); or simply create a data disc with the raw files.

No. It will depend on exchange rates etc, and I haven't looked lately; but generally prices for electronics in Canada aren't a bargain (compared to US prices for example). Like us in the UK, the Canadians complain about the fact that they pay more than the US...

Re: Panasonic HS9 from canada

You may even find it cheaper here then in Canada. But "BestBuy" would be a good place to start. They can match internet prices, give discounts, and all that stuff.
