Would like to blackout an area of captured footage?

I'm editing some footage in Pinnacle Studio9 but would like to blackout an area throughout the timeframe, the blacked out area will also change position in the shot from time to time slightly from left to right- is it possible to do this? thanks

I am not 100% sure what you want but if i want black footage on any part of my films i use some captured black[camcorder with lens hood on and external mike turned off for no sound]but you could give the captured black no sound by the software.the captured black can be used on any part of a frame.

It is possible but rather tricky with Pinnacle Studio not to do it manually
Studio is surprisingly well featured despite its easy going GUI although Ver 10 and above are even more so than 9 ,
You can blur , say faces though
If the Studio 9 you have is the plus edition , it should have 2 video tracks in time line view: a Main and an overlay track
Treat it like Picture in picture project
If you simply place a black still ( or video shot in black) on the overlay track it should cover the main one ( where you wish it to) and you simply move this from time to time as the object you are covering in the main video moves
( also you can adjust its ( the mask) transparency as desired)
It is a fairly above basic technique with all editors but some make it easier to do than others
