Hi I was wondering if anybody could help me. I have had this canon mv650i 5 years and only used it for 4hrs at an air show plus testing it out when we got it, I have been transferring some tapes to my pc for my sister to edit every thing was ok tryed a tape the next day and the image was blocky with bits of image from anothere part of the tape plus there is no sound checked the setting of canon and the wide screen was in red and the sound and the white balance, And when you try and record the image distorts when panning round when you record and play back. I was just wondering if it is the fault that it says on the canon site over the.

Problem details:
Among the CCDs used in the affected products, it has been confirmed that in extremely rare cases, under high-temperature/high-humidity environments, some of the internal wiring comes off.

If this defect occurs, the signal is not output from the CCD correctly when in shooting mode. This results in image abnormalities such as:

Images do not appear
Image colors are abnormal
Images appear distorted

This does sound like the CCD fault that is very well known on this forum. I would suggest you contact Canon and they will give you details of a repair centre to send the camcorder to - a popular one that many on here have used is Plymcare.
If it is found to be the CCD fault then you should get a free repair, but if not it will be chargeable. Canon should be able to advise if they think it is the CCD at fault though.
