widescreen?

hello whoever's there, i've got my hands on a dv camcorder, a JVC GR-DVL365EK. there are 2 widescreen modes on it, letterbox and squeeze. now, i know that letterbox just adds black bars to the top and bottom of the screen but what i'm unsure of is whether squeeze gives a genuine anamorphic picture. i know what's in the frame is the same as letterbox only stretched, but does it use all the resolution available? anyone's learned replies would be much appreciated, thank you...

Yup, you've got yourself a proper anamorphic camcorder there. It will use the full vertical resolution of the camera for widescreen.
