Smile Camcorder Recommendations Please

Hi guys,

I'm looking for a cam that has/can do the following for under £300 (realistically around 200-250)
  • Decent capacity hard drive
  • able to transfer directly from the aformentioned hard drive to a laptop
  • high quality picture (not hd as i'm well aware that for around this price i'll be looking at sd)
  • decent zoom
  • shock proof
Trawling through the net has just got me confused as things have moved on a lot since I was using a mini-dv tape cam, so I need the help of you experts!

I used to use a program called abobe premiere in the early 00's to edit video, and I think at the time it was one of the best out there - is this still the case?

Thanks greatly for any responses!

Just over budget, Panasonic SDR-H280

Adobe Premiere still exists and is generally well thought of; whether it is the best is open for debate. There are 2 major versions; Pro and Elements; Pro much more expensive.

You might need to up the budget slightly to give you a bit more choice for what you want

Adobe Premiere is now several versions on to CS3. . I doubt that you will recognise it if yours is from the early 00s..
Suffice to say it is costly, need very decent hardware and you would need to refamiliarise your self with it
Premiere Elements ( amongst others) may be more what you want for simpler editing
