Sony HD in Windows Media

Used Vegas Movie Studio (Platinum) to edit some video and make a small film from AHCHD files taken on an HD camcorder (Sony HDR5)

Tried 2 different ways to render but only the standard definition plays on windows media...am i missing the correct codec somewhere

What other options do I have to watch in HD

Standard is 5GB (20 min film) and HD is 10GB

Thanks

Re: Sony HD in Windows Media

You didnt say what you were saving your movies as...

Regardless...theres an old thread here of mine, with a possible solution...its a bit long.

Solved : AVCHD/m2ts on vista media player

For general AVCHD, I find PowerDVD is quite good. But it costs. And I can't guarantee it will play your file type. Theres a free trial.

There are free players you could try. Have a look a couple of threads down for suggestions.

WMP does not Play AVCHD .( You may need Core AVC pro codec ( I got it and it didnt work for me) if you must use WMP
Power DVD will not in in its non "Ultra" version
Nero Showtime 4 does
Oxygen is a freebee which does but Im not sure it is still available as its website is now down due to "intellectual property issues"

Re: Sony HD in Windows Media

Thanks...saved same movie twice as .avi files but in different resolutions....higher res won't play (except audio

Is it easier to burn to DVD and view on my PS3 in HD....??

Is there any way of compressing files from 5 and 10 GB down to the 4.7GB that would fit on a DVD to use on the PS3?

Are there other options to watch this movie via my HD TV?

Apologies but I'm new to this and the Vegas software is unclear as to how to do this?

There are media players like
THIS ONE
or you could stream wired or wirelesly from your PC to a networked PS3
