It is a miniDV camcorder which would use firewire to caoture ithe footage on tape to PC.

That is an AV out cable for TV viewing, not for any sort of PC transfer> you could in theory use it to connect to a settop DVD recorder but quality would suck. if there isnt s-video you are better of using a firewire ( labelled Dv out ) or I-link) to transfer the video out at best qality
