Pinnacle Studio 12 Ultimate

Having great difficulties in useing this programme, it keeps freezing, not responding and crashing all the time there is no set pattern to it it just crashes randomly.
I had studio 11 previously, that crashed a few times but version 12 is impossible to work with.

Ive worked my way through the trouble shooting section of the manual and also been in chat with online support who could only suggest uninstalling NERO.

So what options do I have, any one else had these problems, how do I fix them or is there a programme out there that is user friendly.

Im running a Panasonic camcorder model No : HDC-SD5.

Somebody Please HELP

Re: Pinnacle Studio 12 Ultimate

I presume your PC matches the programs specs.
Also if you have any 3rd party codecs installed (eg ffdshow) these might interfer with the program's operation, that's probably why they advised you to uninstall Nero although I wouldn't class Nero as 3rd party

My computer specs are:
Dell XPS 420 E8400 2 duo processor 3.00ghz, 6mb, 133mhz
Memory 4gb dual channel DDR2 800MHZZ (4x1024MB) memory.
Single 512MB Nvidia Geforce 8800GT card

Specs for Pinnacle are:

1.8 (2.4GHz or higher) processor
1GB of Memory
128Mb video card

So my pc far exceeds the specs recommended by Pinnacle.

Help.....please.

Re: Pinnacle Studio 12 Ultimate

Ive had similar problems with Studio 12 on my brand new "clean" Uvem.

No audio coming through either from my AVCHD or through Pinnacles own video files.

2 weeks of unsuccessful "help" from Pinnacle with their advice being to reformat the disk and start again. For a new machine...... I think not.

I'm changing to Ulead after being a previous happy owner of Pinncale products.

They are not offerring a refund either as bought through a reseller who advised to go back to Pinnacle.........

Re: Pinnacle Studio 12 Ultimate

Well my experience of Pinnacle 12 is OK so far with just one crash after I closed the demo file and created a new project quickly. That said, I've been on holiday for the past week so haven't really had a chance to use it 'in anger' (hopes that's not what happens!). Also on the good side it imports 1080i50 (or 1080i25 if you prefer) from my Panasonic SD9 OK - more than Sony Vegas can manage!

I'll report any further experiences, good or bad, on here. My PC is pretty close to the spec posted above except Core 2 Quad 2.4 and currently 2Gb or DDR2/800, 8800GTX 768Mb so well in excess of desired spec. Incidentally I have this running on Vista Ultimate 32 and don't use Nero.

Re: Pinnacle Studio 12 Ultimate

Ihave not tried mine with my avchd but i used it on my last hdv fiming over one hour of edited film which is long for me and for hdv it was a lot better than the 10.5 edition that i also have.
