Re: Sony Picture Motion Browser versions and camcorders

How like Sony: what is wrong with a single unified version which works with updates?

Its not even as if they make the software available..

A seriously silly desicion IMHO which ( considering it works mainly with Sony hardware) makes them seem decidedly mean and dare I say , petty

Yeah I agree. I write software and this seems overly convoluted and almost seems to be difficult on purpose.

What's required is 1 version, then a simple software driver could be used to connect to each camcorder model or models. For example, I'm buying a TG1 - does this mean that if I keep my SR1 then I need to run two versions

Re: Sony Picture Motion Browser versions and camcorders

Can you update the list so that the HDR-SR5, HDR-SR5C and HDR-SR5E are listed against 2.1.00 (they use that version.)

Re: Sony Picture Motion Browser versions and camcorders

OK, I have given MarkB the link for PMB v2.1.0 I uploaded a few weeks ago, so I'm sure he will update the list with the link when he gets a chance. I also have a nother version at home I will upload, need to confirm the version, but it will go up.

Nice little list MarkB has now, hopefully can update it with links to all the versions so that no one else has to endure going through the ringer trying to find a particular version.

I would guess that 2.0.12 would work with that camcorder, but that is very much a guess based on the list above.

Re: Sony Picture Motion Browser versions and camcorders

Hi

Has anybody experienced any difficulty extracting 2.1.00?

I am getting an error message when clicking on the .exe file - "required file not found"

I have tried downloading the entire iso file twice but still get the same message.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks

N

I own sony DCR-SR42, I misplaced CDs which came with it , I downloaded PMB 3.0 from above post but when I connect my camcorder to computer, the LCD screen shows message "connecting... Do not unplug the USB cable." but it fails to connect , it keeps showing the message untill i turn it off. I am unable to install PMB because of that.

That's because you need PMB v 2.0.06, and so do I.

Can anyone upload this, or know where we can DL it?

I lost my disc and now the camera is pretty much useless. Thanks, Sony!

Re: Sony Picture Motion Browser versions and camcorders

HI

A new version was released at the end of November 08. Looks to be pretty unified but you need to update to a certain level before you can apply.

Download and information pages here (select your camcorder);
Downloads : Support : Sony Asia Pacific

Direct link page ;
PMB (Picture Motion Browser) Ver.3.3.00 Update Program : Sony Asia Pacific

Version information here;

Try the following:
[1] Install PMB 1.1 using the following file: PMB v1.1
[2] Once this is installed, apply the update using this file: PMB v3.0 update

This will give you Picture Motion Browser 3.0 which should include your camcorder added at version 2.0.17.

Please try this and report back how you get on - weather this works or not.

Cheers

Mark
