Thumbs down Graphics card

Graphics card
Using Windows Vista Home Premium my subscores are quite good except for my graphics at only 2.2. I want to edit HD video using ulead Videostudio 11.5 can anyone recommend a decent Graphics card to cope with this.
Many thanks.........

Re: Graphics card

Graphics cards have very little to do with editing, all the work is done by the CPU. So basically just get a GPU that can handle the native resolution of your monitor and that will then be able to handle the editing.

Re: Graphics card

That is correct in broad terms
However some Video editing software ( Like Avid Liquid) do use graphics cards (GPU) for rendering FX, but generally more Ram and a Decent Processor are more of the norm for better performance
Pinnacle Studio (Ver 10 and above) too takes advantage of a better graphics cards ( especially for background rendering) but this is an optional feature which can be turned off
AFAIK Ulead VS does not specify anything above its minimum Specifications
A decent card is essential for Playback with software like Power DVD ultra for BD or even AVCDH discs though

Re: Graphics card

Simply what it says on the box or better
Im not sure the specific performance scores ( like you use for games) matters as much as a well set up system with minimal background programs running, a non fragmented HDD ect
