AVCHD editor with DD5.1?

OK, I've looked into a few editors to see which ones edit AVCHD but none really mention if they input and output dolby digital 5.1 (part of the AVCHD spec).

Does anyone know which editors DEFINITELY import and export AVCHD files with dolby digital 5.1?

At the moment am thinking Nero may be the best one to use from what I've read, but again, I have nothing concrete

I've hear that it won't output 1920x1080, only 1440x1080 though, is that true?

No.
Vegas Pro will do 1920x1080, its the cut down version (MSP) that is limited to 1440x1080.

No problem.
Ive not actually used Vegas to output 1920x1080 with DD5.1 but i know the options are there.
The BD templates in Vegas are 1440x1080 though but you can change them to a higher resolution.

By all accounts there isn't a big quality difference between the two as the 1440x1080 setting has a pixel ration of 1.333 which is pretty close to 1920x1080 at 1.1 (so im told)

I know, but I've just sold a 1440x1080 cam and bought a 1920x1080 so don't want to take a step backwards and lose pixels (that wasn't the reason for changing camcorders btw)

Re: AVCHD editor with DD5.1?

I know what you mean.
Even though my HF10 is my first HD cam when i got Vegas MSP i was a bit disappointed about the output restrictions so got hold of the Pro version instead.
I cant say i notice the difference but its nice to keep things all at the highest res and to have all options available.

Re: AVCHD editor with DD5.1?

does anyone know what Vegas Pro is like compared to Premiere Pro (which I'm used to)?

I've also just read about the MainConcept plug in for Premiere Pro which seems exactly like what I'm after, just can't believe it's so expensive for a plug in! http://www.mainconcept.com/site/pros...tion-7862.html

For starters Vegas is less costly, and some woulds say easier to use
The biggest difference is the GUI,
Moving away from the way Premiere feels in use will be your biggest challenge..
I think ( this is very personal) that what ever Vegas lacks in features compared to Premiere , I do not miss
Also Vegas is much kinder to modestly specified computers
I suppose downloading a trial version is the way to do it
