Greetings.

I've had a bit of a delve about the forums without any luck, so:

Does anyone know of some decent shot-logging freeware (preferably for Mac) or (just as good) an excel spreadsheet template for logging tapes? Either solution would have to accept input timecodes and preferably calculate durations. An export-to-EDL function would be a luxury item and as such is not necessarily required.

Well for what it's worth I just spent the past hour or so bashing together a very simple (repeat: very simple) logger in Excel (it's attached to this post).

What it does:
It accepts TC in and TC out (e.g., enter as "00010221" and it will format to "00:01:02:21" for you);
It calculates duration in TC (jerry-rigged from algebra I found on the web);
It has fields for comments.

What it does not:
It does not check the accuracy of your entries;
It does not generate EDLs or batch files for export into editors.

There are three worksheet pages in the template - enough for about 130 shots per tape (or equivalent). The "Tape ID" and "Comments" entered at the head of page 1 are carried over to the heads of pages 2 & 3.

It's budget (indeed it is free), and it's better than nothing if you're after a bog-standard TC-based media log like I was .
