SR12 / SR12E - is there a difference?

I'm close to parting with my hard-earned after payday (!)
Is there a difference between the SR12 and SR12E ?
Am I right in thinking that the 'E' is for the UK market?
Thanks.

Yes, the European model is the SR12E.

But some places don't use the full model number, so some advertised as SR12 might be SR12E.

If you buy a UK model, it will be the SR12E.

I was looking at one from Dixons - they list is as SR12.
I assume it's gonna be an SR12E then !

Re: SR12 / SR12E - is there a difference?

Hi Mark,

could you tell me if i were to buy the SR12 from the USA, would i have any problems with regards to the video formats in use in the UK i.e. PAL?? As for the power adaptor i presume this would be a multi voltage one.

The main reason for buying from the USA is that i will be there and obviously there is a saving in price as compared to the UK which i could put into accesories.
Thanx

I'm not Mark, but I can tell you that this question ("To buy or not to buy from the US / Japan etc.") is asked frequently here.

Do a search using the forum tools above for "NTSC" or "60 Hz" and read on!

Andrew.

Bear in mind that if buying online from the USA you may need to pay customs duty (5-10% ish depending on value of goods) plus VAT (17.5%) on top of any prices quoted.

Also your warranty may not be valid, so you may have to pay for repairs if it was faulty or damaged on arrival.

US models are 60i rather than 50i, which may or may not be a problem for you. Most modern TVs will display 60i fine, but if you wanted to say create a PAL DVD to give to family or friends then the conversion from 60i to 50i will effect the quality.

Re: SR12 / SR12E - is there a difference?

Thanx Cortaj, wadding through all those articles now....

willc...when you say convert, you could convert the footage using a program such as pinnacle from ntsc to pal....when you talk of quality, what sort of loss of quality can one expect?

Thanx
