Advice on new pc for video editing (AVCHD)

Hi,

I am looking for a PC for editing high def video footage taken on a Panny HDC-SD9 using Pinnacle Studio 12. I have the software already (from US) and run it on my laptop and it runs like a dog.

I am therefore wanting a PC and have the following spec so far, what do people think... am I missing anything or there anything I should be looking at changing? I will be overclocking the CPU to around 3ghz if stable.

- Antec Nine Hundred 900 - Gaming Case with 200mm Top Fan - No PSU £66.96

- Hi-Power Black 700W 14cm Blue LED Fan PSU - 20+4pin 4x SATA 4x £39.99

- Intel Core 2 Quad Q6600 8MB Cache OEM Processor £119.88

- Asus P5Q PRO P45 Socket 775 8 Channel Audio ATX Motherboard £87.77

- 2 x Seagate ST3500320AS 500GB Hard Drive SATA II 7200rpm £95.58 (for 2)

- Corsair 4GB Kit (2x2GB) DDR2 800MHz/PC2-6400 XMS2 Memory £55.14

- LG GGW-H20L Blu-Ray Disc Re-Writer & HD DVD-Rom SATA Black £147.90

- Arctic Cooling AC-FRZ-7P Freezer 7 Pro Socket 775 Processor Cooler £15.62

- LiteOn DH-16D3P 16x48 DVD-Rom Black Bare Drive £10.49

- Sapphire HD 4850 512MB GDDR3 Dual DVI TV Out PCI-E Graphics Card £129.95

TOTAL = £769.28

Any help would be much appreciated. (also posted in computer forums)

Re: Advice on new pc for video editing (AVCHD)

I dont have a good computer knowledge on parts and the like, but it looks more than good enough to be able to do AVCHD editing.

I have a core2duo running at 1.6ghz with 2gb of RAM and i can edit with vegas all day long. No problems.

So a setup that big, should sort you out no worries.

Re: Advice on new pc for video editing (AVCHD)

I am using the following to edit video clips in AVCHD-- Video studio 11+

Computer:
XP Home Edition
3.2 Gig Ram
Intel Dual Core E8400
MSI Neo 2 FR
8800GT graphics card

Depending on the length of the video, titles and audio inserted etc into final DVD, it can take hours to render.
It takes up a great deal of processing power.

Yep that rig will definately be up to the task. Your garuanteed a stable overclock
with the Q6600 cpu as well. If your looking for some good overclocking advice
I would recommend the forums over at www.overclockers.co.uk they have all the info you need.
