The better one?

EDIT:

Well guys, just bought a brand new Panasonic SDR-H250 for £210. What do you think? Did i make the right choice?

Should i have gone for the newer Panasonic SDR-H40EB-S 40GB. Newer technology? What do you think please. Thanks

Need to have some good feedback as i have time to cancel my order if need be!! I want to know if i have made the right choice. Thanks
-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Which of these 2 is the better Camcorder and why?:

Panasonic SDR-H250

Sony DCR-SR35E

Thanks. Reason i ask is that my mate has the chance of either and wants to know which to get. I told about this awesome forum and said i would ask. Cheers guys.

Re: The better one?

Panasonic SDR-H250

Why?

1. Better overall video quality.
2. Three 1/6" CCDs vs a single 1/8" CCD. Three CCDs isn't always better, and often a single larger sensor can perform better than 3 smaller ones. But the SR35 has a single, tiny sensor. This has an impact on point 1 above.

Well, my mate thinks he is going to go with the Sony. Cheaper and looks ok. He's going to think about it.

Re: The better one?

I am thinking of getting a Panasonic SDR-H250 myself now. Really confused though. My mate has gone for a Sony DCR-SR35E.

Really don't want to spend a lot though (Tight git). I like the newer Panasonics etc but can't afford more than £250 ish.

Out of all the camcorders mentioned on here, these are the 2 that i like now:

Panasonic HDC-SD5

Panasonic SDR-H250

Looks like i can get the H250 for approx £250. Is it worth adding another £100 and getting the SD5? Don't know if i can justify the expense. Unless it is really that much more better?

I need help, yet again. I also like the Sony cams but they are a bit out of my price range again. SONY DCR-SR75E 60GB was one i have seen for approx £250 but not sure if that is a better buy or not. I am no expert when it comes to camcorders as you may have guessed!!

Anymore advice would be really appreciated.

Re: The better one?

Panasonic HDC-SD5 is high def, Panasonic SDR-H250 is standard def.
That is a big difference if you will be displaying on a High Def display, if the footage is shot in decent light.

Both are good for what they are and the price.

Hopefully some others will add their opinion, so you don't just have to listen to me....

Re: The better one?

Most camcorders are poor in low light? Unless you spend a lot more?

I don't have a HD TV at the mo. Would you say the SDR-H250 is a better buy than the Sony's i have mentioned?

Re: The better one?

Yes, all camcorders are better in good light; and the quality of the low light performance generally increases with price. But even at a given price point, some models will be better than others in low light performance.

With High Def models, they can often look worse than standard def in low light, due to:
1) Higher resolution means smaller pixels, which let in less light
2) Because the picture is so good in decent light, you notice the drop off to low light more.

Yes, I think the H250 is better than the Sony SR35/55/75.

Re: The better one?

Again, many thanks mate.

I am after a Camcorder that produces crisp videos as i have a 20th old baby girl that we want to film while on hols etc etc so a good camcorder is a must but price is important too.

So, looks like the Panasonic SDR-H250 could be the one for me!

Re: The better one?

Just a quicky!! Just noticed this Panasonic:

Panasonic SDR-H40EB-S 40GB Approx £234

http://www.panasonic.co.uk/html/en_G...?view=&angle=1

Any good? What is the difference between it and the H250? Best one?

Re: The better one?

H250 is better.

- 3 CCDs vs 1 CCD
- Better lens (Leica Dicomar vs. Panasonic)

No. Similar to the SR55/SR75. Better than the 35.

Re: The better one?

Have to see what i can get for my money then. The Panasonic SDR-H40EB-S 40GB looks like a nice camcorder but if i can get the Panasonic SDR-H250 for not much more then that will be the one for me.

Re: The better one?

Hi

Thanks mate. I can always depend on you to give good advice. It looks the better camcorder but i am a noob when it comes to them.

You see a newer camcorder and instantly think it is better but in this case it is not?
