Hi All ... introduction

Hi

I'm a stills photographer and have recently won a Canon HF 100 in a contest I entered. I have previously not had any experience with video at all and browsing the web to find information I must tell you that I am overwhelmed and don't understand 10% of what I read.

Is there a book which is able to explain me in idiot proof terminology about the pro's, con's, do's and don'ts of video. I want to know about formats, exchanging formats, exporting and importing (etc. etc. etc.) and most of watching the end result.

If and when applicable I am Mac user 2.4ghz iMac and 2.4 Powerbook pro and have legal copies of FCE.

I also have a 3.0Ghz quad core Windows machine in my house with no video editing software what so ever. This is attached to a Eizo 23" fully calibrated on which I do most of my professional photography (photoshop etc.)

My day to day stuff I do on the mac with aperture...

Any advice how to get started successfully for I genuinely want to give this a go.

We have all the HD TV's Blue-ray stuff etc. etc.

Thanks in advance for, well basically anything keeping mind that I know nothing at all about it....

:-)

Jan
