SD Card based Camcorders - fastest startup time?

Hi,

I bought a hard drive camcorder (JVC Everio GZ-MC100EK) a couple of years ago...it's rather good, but the one MAJOR negative is the startup time - it's about 15 seconds.

That might not sound a lot, but when you're trying to capture those priceless moments with young kids...well, let's just say - missed 'em!

I'm probably now due an upgrade & therefore one of my main priorities is a fast Camcorder startup time.

Am I right in thinkjing that since SD card have no moving parts, then the startup times for SD based camcorders ought to be the fastest?

Are they fairly instant nowadays?

Re: SD Card based Camcorders - fastest startup time?

I had a Pana SDR-S150 that was ready for action in about two seconds. My HDC-SD7 takes about three seconds.
