Convert Minidv for PS3 playback - Which format?

Hi,

I have a collection mini dv tapes (Standard def) that I want to convert into a suitable format for playback on my playstation 3. I have a large network drive to store the converted files that is connected to both the playstation 3 and pc.

What are other members of this forum using in terms of format i.e. Divx, mpeg4 etc for playback and what method/software is being used for the conversion.

My main considerations are quality but with small file size.

I think what is the best size /quality file would be similar to what you would use for a PC playback
Why dont you experiment with mpeg2 ( DVD quality) or Divx? ( or MP4) bearing in mind that te more compresed the format the liklier larger displays wil l show up any artifacts
The way which ever format you use will display is determined by the display itself rather than the format
PS3 tends to be fairly nuetral ( it does not flatter or degrade) file format IIRC
