Recommend - StandDef SD card Camcorder

Father in Law is looking for a
Standard Def camcorder - trying to steer him towards solid state (not HDD).
good low light and optics
tape possibility if the camcorder is really good.
upto £500

Any ideas???? Wouldnt be a problem if it was HD he was after.

TIA

Re: Recommend - StandDef SD card Camcorder

Canon HF100 is the current pick of the HD crop. I wouldn't recommend SD if he can afford HD, unless he has very shaky hands.

I know you won't get an HF100 at £500 yet but it's only a matter of time.

Re: Recommend - StandDef SD card Camcorder

Yeah if I could convince him to get an HD camcorder , he could have my SD9 and I could get an HF100

Trouble is that I think he will be happy with an Standard def as his PC is nowhere near editing HD
