Professional Camcorder Recommendations.

Hi,

I've got around 700 pounds to play with and I really want to replace my current Camcorder. I want to do a few interviews aswell as use it for film productions and podcasts.

One thing I want from the cam is size, something that I can interview people with and not look like I'm just some kid. The XM1/2 is a good size for what I want and through a few searches I find the quality is quite good.

What's everyones thoughts on the Canon Xm1/2 ?

I'd preferably like to shoot in HD but I'm not sure if I can get a cam like the XM1 in HD, for the price I want.

Is there anything else I should be looking at ?

Thanks !

Re: Professional Camcorder Recommendations.

£700 will get you one of several excellent (but small) High Def consumer cams.

It won't get you a new, large pro/prosumer cam, either SD or HD. You would be needing to look at used models.

High Def version of the XM1/XM2 is the XH-A1; that is £2000+. A new XM2 is £1500 ish. XM1 is used only.

Re: Professional Camcorder Recommendations.

canon xm 2s are realy holding their price,i wish canon or sony would bring out a non tape sized version.the canon a1 is a lot bigger ,if you are stuck at 700£ a consumer hd cam will have to do you as mark said.with second hand your other choice the trouble with cams you cant tell how much wear the heads may have had.
