Please help: Windows Movie maker and BUP Nero Files
I just finalised a mini dvd from my wife's Panasonic Video Camcorder VDR D220, and saved it to my PC. I tried to edit the video files using Windows Movie Maker, but WMV refused to load the file format because for some reason it was saved on the PC in the BUP Nero format Video_TS.BUP. How do I convert the files to an extension acceptable to WMV? Like MPEG e.g.

Re: Please help: Windows Movie maker and BUP Nero Files
It is VOB files you need. BUP are "backup" files for the navigational "IFO" files
Only the VOB ( Video object) are the video files on a DVD video which are mpeg2 files
However I wasnt aware WMM edited mpeg2 files, ( which is what DVDs contain)
I would try another software. most mainstream one edit mpeg fairly easily. If they dont play ball.. rename from *.vob to *.mpg
I would suggest you not try to edit WMV files.
It is compressed file ( like mpeg)
All these methods promise a significant loss in output quality

Do it for free with virtual dub here is the how to then import to wmm. be aware unless you have vista wmm cannot burn to dvd . You will need to export ads dv-avi and burn with something else

Yes
Try Movie Factory6 plus, it can edit too
But Video Studio is more able ( and I personally find , less "lean" :I like as little "bloat" as possible) .Dont use anything earlier than Ver 10 or 11..
However all the currently available titles will do

As for burning to DVD , surely you have Nero..
You dont need vista ( Or its DVD burning abilities).. and its other "gremlins" ( * dashes quicky out of the room*)

Re: Please help: Windows Movie maker and BUP Nero Files
Using Prism Video Convertor we managed to load a couple of clips onto Windows Movie Maker and play them. Although they connected and played, the sound was too fast, Micky Mouse noises, and some of the clips were truncated, cut short in some parts. Any ideas as to why would be appreciated. Thanks in advance.
