I would be using it for skiing. Is it a good camera or no. Thanks

Yes it's a good camcorder. I don't see any issues with using it skiing (just don't fall and smash it to pieces).

HD1000 might be good for skiing, too. 60fps progressive would be good for all the fast movement and its main limitation - poor EIS - wouldn't really matter on the piste.
