Sony HDR-TG3 and Picture Motion Browser

I have just purchased a Sony HDR-TG3 and am delighted with the quality and ease of shooting. Within minutes of shooting some footage at home, I was viewing great images and hearing very good camcorder audio, having inserted the SD card, in my Playstation, and viewing the footage on a 40" screen. However, when I came to use Picture Motion Browser, to view and create a disk, I found that each of 8 shots were shown discretely on PMB and when burned to disk, although, not so bad the video still had a slight pause, after each scene.
What am I doing wrong? Should I be using Vegas 8 Platinum or some similar video editing software? I have been used to editing with Adobe Premiere Elements, but they cannot deal with AVCHD.

I produced the files in AVCHD but I noticed that Windows Media Video had got their hands on the file. Could that have anything to do with the problem? How can I prevent Windows from getting 'involved' in my video production?

Apologies if these questions are basic, but I hope that someone can advise me.
