Canon HG10 Vs Panasonic HDC-HS9
As title. I am trying to decide between the two. Any suggestions?
Thanks!

Re: Canon HG10 Vs Panasonic HDC-HS9
There's not a lot to choose but if it helps you make up your mind the HG10 is currently on sale a Jessops for £499, which in Jessops terms has to be a bit of a steal.

Re: Canon HG10 Vs Panasonic HDC-HS9
Thanks rhubarbe for that! How do they both compare actually? I have a budget of £600. Should I go for the Pana or is the Canon a real bargain at that price?
Thanks again!
EDIT: Forgot to mention BIG time newb here, I know nothing about camcorders.

Re: Canon HG10 Vs Panasonic HDC-HS9
I had the HDC-SD9 (same as HS9 but with SDHC card only)......
Actually, I am not sure, let me re-read the HS9 spec.
CCI loved the HG10....

Re: Canon HG10 Vs Panasonic HDC-HS9
Just compare the sizes and see if you are happy with the HG10 size but it has a viewfinder (which I find invaluable, you might not).
If it were my money it would be on the HG10.
senu had an HG10 on load for eight weeks, so he might be the one to give you a better impression.
He'll be along later when the beds are all full for the night.

Re: Canon HG10 Vs Panasonic HDC-HS9
The HG 10 is great.. ..nuff said
Ive PMed stylgeo with a bit more but I was really impressed with its build quality, video quality ( especially in good outdoor light), audio and Stills and
Speaking as a tape (HDV) high end Prosumer "lover", it made me look at AVCHD with a lot more regard
Its joystick on the edge of the LCD looks "delicate" and is ideally best left during shooting and some buttons are not for large fingered people
I don't like its inability to do SD and lack lustre 25p but if that doesn't bother you there is very little not to like about it
Its auto slow shutter ( on by default) should be turned off ASAP
I must say I would mind having one for High quality fun video

Re: Canon HG10 Vs Panasonic HDC-HS9
Of course the HG10 uses a CMOS sensor, whilst the HS9 is 3 CCD.....
But I agree; the HS9 is also good, but the HG10 would get my vote; better low light performance.

Senu
I read posts that may be Canon HG10 inclined
Your comments above -- is that A SL SHUTTER ?
If so, mine appears to be off by default
Well chuffed with the camera btw; still getting to grips with editing software
