Sony HVR-A1E component output

I have a Sony HVR-A1E, which is the pro version of the HC1, but I have lost the component out cable. Before I replace the cable, which seems pretty hard to do, I want to check that it is the best way to play footage on a
1080p TV.
I have a Panasonic TH42PZ80B TV that has HDMI inputs along with a component input. The Sony A1 has an i-link and usb output along with a Sony "D" shaped A/V OUT and a rectangularish component out. The component out is about the size of an i-link/firewire but a rectangle with 2 corners cut off

Apologies for the diagram but you get the idea.

So To view my footage in HDV1080i do I use the component out? If so can any one recomend where to source a replacement cable.

the cable for your cam is almost certainly the same as the one on my h-c1 and fx-7 they both have the the same lead and socket.
sony uk tel 08705111999 and sony spare parts 08702406354 one of these will probobly help you get your lead.as your cam does not have hdmi out you will have to play via the component for hd footage.

Re: Sony HVR-A1E component output

Thanks for the swift replies. I contacted Sony and the part number is 1829 41421 with a price of £55.70 plus VAT Any one know of a cheaper alternative?

Re: Sony HVR-A1E component output

I suspect it is a Sony Specific proprietary cable. This does not mean you not should try and see if any third party manufacturer makes a cheaper one, or if there is a second hand one going for less on e-bay
Although I know keeping the form factor small is a consideration Sony is not unknown to relish folk needing these things

Correct , No offence intended

I guess i was just reinforcing the fact that there is no "hidden " HDMI" output and that component , not composite AV is the way
Incidentally Sony do sell a proprietary s-video cable for the HC1 and A1 which fits into the AV socket ( also a proprietary fit rather than the standard 3,5mm jack!)
