Well I bought the Vegas Movie Studio Platinum but It won't load the M2TS files that are on the hard drive -- they load OK into the bundled Corel MovieFactory

Warning: An error occured while opening one or more files
The reason for the error could not be determined
File C:\Documents and Settings\Owner\My Documents\My Videos\20080419114130.M2TS could not be opened.

Am I doing something wrong ?

I assume this is Ver 8
Try it with the most updated patch..
it works with Canons HG 10 files ( mts) Only Sony uses m2ts

Aye, it's Platinum Version 8.0b (build 122)

The canon files on hard-drive are M2TS

Do I need to upgrade ?

I can upload stills pics OK

I upgraded to version (d) and now all is well
