JVC GZ-HD7 - PAL and NTSC versions?

Hi there,

trying to get what they exactly mean with PAL and NTSC version of the HD7 camcorder as there is no such thing link PAL and NTSC with HD material. Could it be that the "PAL", i.e. european version records at 1920x1080@50i and the "NTSC" USA version records at 1920x1080@60i?

Anyone using the US version here in europe with PAL sets? Most of the plasma screen are 60Hz capable...

Cheers

Re: JVC GZ-HD7 - PAL and NTSC versions?

Your assumptions are correct.

However the two formats are not compatable( NTSC=30fps, PAL=25fps) both can be viewed on HD TV's but if you ever have the requirement to perhaps share footage with someone who has a PAL camera then that's when the problems will surface.

Also if you ever wish to upgrade your camera in the future you will have to buy another camera of the same format otherwise the older footage cannot easily be combined with the newer footage.

And of course fewer people in the UK will want to buy a second hand 30 fps NTSC cam, so you'll not get so much dosh for it at exchange time.
