I bought a Sony camcorder DCR-TRV14E 4 years ago and has been working well. Three months ago, i decided to install Image-Mixer version 1.5 which came with the camcorder in a CD supplied. I installed image-mixer into my PC and was viewing old recored clips. When i disconnected the camcorder from my PC, i opened my camcorder and tried to record but the display was blue. There was no display what so ever, the only thing i can do is view is recorded clips from my cassette in my camcorder. I set the camcorder settings to default but no luck.

I really need help with this issue. I can not return the camcorder because of out of date warranty.

If you can view previously recorded tapes but not now see anything in record mode on the LCD and view finder, it sounds serious..
It would seem one of the imaging elements ( lens/ CCD) have either been displaced or have become faulty
This is more likely if you record now, and the tape is blank during playback
I cannot imagine installing viewing software on the PC is connected to this, it may just be a coincidence

This fault sounds to me to be the well known dodgy CCD issue. There is a very long thread on the forum about the Canon cams that had this issue. It is caused by a large batch of CCD sensors supplied by Sony to many camcorder & digicam makers (so not just Sony cams affected).
Do a search of this forum for loads more info on the CCD issue, plus a search of the Sony web site as you should be able to get a free repair (assuming it is this issue). The free repair offer is/was a time limited offer and may have expired, but it is worth checking out.

I've just had a look on the Sony site Here and your camcorder is listed as one of the effected models. So get in contect with Sony and you should get a free repair (fingers crossed)
